Event presented by author Barbara Shoup ties in with this year's Community Book Read of "The Year We Left Home" by Jean Thompson.
What is Indiana writing, anyway? Do you have to go away to be a real writer? Barbara Shoup will share thoughts about her own work as a novelist and discuss the remarkable range of fiction being published by today’s Hoosier writers—some living and writing in our state and others who left home but keep writing about Indiana anyway. Be sure to have a notebook handy to jot down new authors for your to-read list! Shoup is the author of eight novels, including An American Tune and Looking for Jack Kerouac, as well as Novel Ideas: Contemporary Authors Share the Creative Process and A Commotion in Your Heart: Notes on Writing and Life. She is the Writer-in-Residence at the Indiana Writer Center, a faculty member at Art Workshop International, and the moderator for “Imaginary Indiana,” a series of ZOOM conversations with Indiana fiction writers, sponsored by the IWC and Indiana Humanities. Event is part of this year’s Community Book Read series and made possible from a grant from Indiana Humanities Novel Conversations Speakers Program If you miss the live event, you can view this on the library’s FB page and YouTube channel in the near future.
