Preserving African American traditions and culture through storytelling and song the Freetown Village Singers present an interactive collection of traditional folk songs and Negro spirituals. With a mix of a Capella singing and storytelling the Singers interpret the meanings of many songs sung during religious gatherings work and leisure time from over a hundred years ago. Since 1988 the Freetown Village Singers have performed throughout the state and Midwest. Their performances provide a living experience in African American history.

The Main Library is located in the Cleo Rogers Memorial Library in downtown Columbus at 536 Fifth Street. Completed in 1969 and designed by architect I.M. Pei, it features library collections for children, teens, and adults. It also houses the Columbus Indiana Architectural Archives, Family and Local History collection, and BCPL Create studio.
