Join Sycamore Land Trust and life long birder, Cathy Meyer, for a journey through the autumn landscape of Touch the Earth Natural Area. Parking is limited. Registration required, limit 8 carloads.

Please register only 1 person, which will reserve your parking space. You may bring friends and family, so long as they are in a single vehicle. Patrons are encouraged to carpool.

Whether you are an experienced birder or just starting, this two hour guided hike will meander through the woods and prairie to discover the sights and sounds of our favorite birds as they move south.

 About the Leader:

Cathy Meyer is a retired naturalist from Monroe County Park and Recreation. She is an active member of the Indiana Audubon Society and Sassafras Audubon Society and has led bird hikes for the Indiana Dunes Birding Festival, Sycamore Land Trust, and other groups.

 Tips to Prepare:

  • Dress for the weather.
  • Bring bug spray and sunscreen if needed. Likewise, pants are recommended for bug protection!
  • Bring your own binoculars for a closer look, or we will have quality optics available to borrow at the start of the event.
  • Consider downloading Merlin and eBird prior to the event to record and track the birds we find!
  • Consider bringing a walking stick or trekking poles for balance.
